I've been pretty quiet for a while - because I'm busy writing another book. There have been good days and bad days - but another review of Everybody Jam by Luna's Little LIbrary has helped inspire me to keep going. So thanks Luna!
The Branford Boase Award

I travelled to Walker Books in London for the Branford Boase Award yesterday and had a fantastic time, catching up with my friends and fellow authors Phil Earle, Annabel Pitcher and Irfan Master. I also got to meet Gill Lewis and Lissa Evans.

There's a piece in The Journal's July edition of Culture Magazine about my favourite books. It's on page 11.Not easy to pick just a handful from all the stories I've loved, but this gives an idea of some of the ones that made me laugh, cry, and most of all, want to be a writer myself.

The CILIP people have put together this really great video of the shortlisted authors and illustrators from the Carnegie Medal/Kate Greenaway Prize, including me, talking about our most memorable reading experiences.
Mine's about a Roald Dahl book I read when I was about 13 - but perhaps not one you'd expect, and certainly not what my parents thought I was reading!
